Viking Tension Cover Spring #413346701
Long description
upper thread tension / tension cover assembly. Its job is to maintain consistent pressure and proper movement of the tension components so the upper thread feeds smoothly and the machine can hold stable tension across different fabrics and stitch types.
When this spring weakens, bends, or breaks, the tension system can’t react correctly—resulting in inconsistent stitch quality even when the tension dial/settings look “right.” Replacing the spring restores proper mechanical tension response and helps bring the machine back to normal, predictable stitch formation.
Why replace it
Replace the tension cover spring if you notice:
-
tension suddenly inconsistent
-
won’t correct with normal tension adjustments
-
popping or fraying near the tension path
-
loose, “sticky,” or doesn’t return smoothly
-
bent, fatigued, or broken
-
thread jam or thread wrapped in the tension area
Maintenance Tips:
• Regular Inspection: Periodically check the tension assembly for signs of wear or damage to maintain optimal stitching performance.
