Creating a Wave Rope Bowl

Cost: $ 50

In this class, you will be building upon the rope sewing skills that you have already mastered and learn how to create a scalloped swirl/wave design with a new wrapping technique and finishing approach. You will create two projects in class embellished with the wave design – a hot plate trivet and a large bowl Note: You must have already taken the Rope 101 – Part 1 and 2 class in order to take this more advanced rope sewing class. The class will run from 10:30 – 3:30. Please feel free to bring a snack or lunch. On the day of the class, you will need to purchase a kit for this project for $35.00. The kit will include: • Aurifil 50 wt. cotton – large spool (1422 yards)- beige • Wooden Beads • End cap • Rope - 100’ of ¼” All Cotton Solid Braid Supplies: (please no substitutions) - Class Kit - Your own sewing machine with zig-zag capability in good working order (we can help you carry it in and out) - Extension table for your machine (if you have one) - Open toe foot - Cotton Rope (included in kit) - 100 % Quilter's Cotton Fabric Fat Quarters - You may want to use different fabric for each project. I recommend using fabric with some sort of small overall print or a batik. - For the trivet, you will need (20) 3/4" strips of fabric pre-cut at home on the bias before class. A fat quarter should provide you with 20. Note that strips can be of varying length. Do not cut the angled ends off of the strips. - For the bowl - you will need (30) 3/4" strips of fabric pre-cut at home. 2 Fat Quarters will provide you with enough fabric for this. - 2 Bobbins of same Cotton Thread contained in kit - Denim/Jeans Needle 90/14 and Topstitch Needle 90/14 - Scissors to cut rope - Small embroidery scissors or snips (curved micro blade snips work well – available at nSV) - Sewing Pins – Extra Fine, if you have them (Magic Pins are great) - Mini Clips (also called Wonder Clips) - Elmer’s School Glue Stick (disappearing purple) - Tape Measure - Scotch Tape
