Reversible Placate and Collar
REVERSIBLE PLACATE AND COLLAR
Create a custom shirt with fashion flair. Take this opportunity to transform a plain ready-made front buttoned cotton collar shirt into your unique flexible fashion statement. We will create a reversible placate and collar that button onto that plain shirt. Choose two coordinating fabrics to zing it up. We will use the “shaping” function in embroidery to create the placate.
| Requirements: | SUPPLY LIST Machine capable of bringing buttonholes into embroidery and also shaping function in embroidery. Embroidery Unit, longest hoop for machine, embroidery foot, 80 Microtex needle, embroidery bobbin case if required, straight stitch plate, buttonhole foot, straight stitch foot, bi-level foot optional Ultra Clean and tear stabilizer large enough to hoop x 2, Pellon SF101 Shape Flex 20 inch wide longer than the placate length. Do-sew or Stitch in Ditch to draft collar pattern. Temporary spray adhesive 6 x 24 ruler, rotary cutter, flexible curve ruler, seam ripper, scissors, button-hole chisel (optional), seam gauge, marker, mechanical pencil, hand needle, Fast-turn optional, chopstick, point turner, three quarter diameter dowel cut to 30-36 inches helpful for pressing placate, best press or starch Construction thread, thread for buttonholes Aurifil produces a nice buttonhole in shirt weight cotton, embroidery thread if you want to add embellishments in between buttonholes. Two coordinating fabrics - Length of placate + minimum 4 inches. pre-wash fabric in the same manner as you would the shirt, starch, and press Buttons For reversible placate that you do not plan on buttoning the top button you will need two buttons that match the ready-made shirt button, minimum five small x mm buttons for the collar Optional mini ric rac or other trim for edge insertion if desired. If you own a PFAFF ICON then you can use the lovely new lace edge stitches in your machine to edge your placate and collar. |
