Beginnner Quilting Fundamentals
If you are a beginner quilter, or an experienced quilter who would like to brush up on the basics, this class if for you! This class covers all the essentials to piece a quilt using a sewing machine: Use of basic quilting tools, accurate cutting of fabric using a rotary cutter and mat, sewing an accurate ¼ inch seam on your sewing machine, matching seams, ironing vs. pressing, adding borders and binding, etc. You will then use your new skills to make a small, simple wallhanging.
The Tucker Trimmer I and Quilter’s Magic Wand are highly recommended for this class. These tools are available at Nashua Sew and Vac.
Requirements: | FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP SUPPLY LIST Fabric - Choose 3 coordinating fabrics (1 light, 1 medium, 1 dark); 1 fat quarter each, Neutral thread for piecing, Marking pencil or pen that will draw a fine line Rotary cutter with fresh blade, Cutting mat, 6in x 24in ruler, Straight pins, 1-inch or smaller masking tape or painters tape, Sewing machine, clean and oiled, with new needle and Quarter inch foot, - (walking foot optional), Basic sewing supplies: scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc., Pencil and pad for notes Optional:, Tucker Trimmer 1 and Quilters Magic Wand, Iron and ironing surface If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at Kathie@KathieBeltz.com. |
