In Full Bloom Serger Creative Technique Class- In Store Attendance



Spring has sprung
The grass has riz
I wonder where the flowers is

They are right here created with your serger.  Use a three thread decorative stitch, wave stitch (Babylock owners with this feature), and serger crochet to make these fabric flowers bloom.  The stems can be drawn in or, if your serger can do a chain stitch, make the stems from a chain stitch.  Plus this is a great way to use up scraps.

The supply list is below.  Please note the class preparation steps.  

Supply List

Fabric

  2- 4x8” pieces green fabric for leaves

  4 – 3X3” pieces for origami flower

  1 – 1.5” x 13” silk or cotton for the wave edge flower

  1 - ½” x 13” piece of cotton CUT ON THE BIAS

Thread

  2 -12 wgt or thicker threads for the origami flower- different colors

  2 -12 wgt or thicker threads for the wave edge flower – different colors

  2 -12 wgt or thicker threads for the leaf edges

  2 – 12 wgt threads for serger crochet – different color4s

  1 spool of complimentary serger thread to match each of the above color combinations- I used 4 different serger threads- one for each color combination

Other notions

  Scraps of Heat n Bond light

  Frixion pen

  Glue gun or glue – we may not get to this in class so don’t stress on this

  16” cotton gimp- couldn’t find mine, so I used bunka cord and it worked       great-I will try to remember to bring some with me

  Fray Block

  Decorative button for flower centers – see photo

Serger in good working order

Curve foot

Clear foot

Beading foot

Basic foot that came with the serger


Class Preparation

  Use the Heat n Bond Lite to fuse the 3" square pieces together- WS to WS - so you you have two 2 sided  3" squares 
  Do the same for the leaf fabric- you want one 4 x 8" two sided rectangle
