Serger Holiday/Winter Decorations

Get creative with your serger as you create these simple but stunning holiday/winter decorations.
The fabric chain uses a wide cover stitch and a belt loop binder to create the strips for a “paper” chain. I will have a coverhem serger available for those of you with regular 4 thread sergers.
A rolled hem, with decorative thread in the upper looper, is used to make the base for folding origami flowers
The Jingle Bell Tree uses a three thread wide stitch with decorative thread in both loopersSupplies:
Christmas Tree: Make a sandwich of each size- Fabric A. lightweight interfacing or stabilizer, Fabric B
Sizes: 4" , 5", 6" 7" 8" squares.
2 decorative threads- different colors but the same weight
1 spool serger thread to match one of the decorative threads.
Fabric Chain: 3- 1 ¾” WOF strips – each strip should be a different fabric (WOF= width of fabric)
1 ½” belt loop binder
Opt- chain/cover foot
Several 5/8” strips of heavy cutaway stabilizer
2 serger threads to match/compliment fabric
1 decorative thread to match/compliment fabric-

Glamore
8 or12 Wgt thread
Origami Flower Candle Stick: 2 – 4” squares of fabric for each flower – I used organza for my flowers. One was printed and the other was a solid. I will bring some organza with me if you need it.
2 complimentary serger threads
1 decorative thread for the upper looper
Hand sewing needle-
Decorative straight pins for attaching flower to the flowers
Styrofoam base- Mine was 4” wide. This should be available at Michaels I have also used these to make a wreath.
