Ask Adele Scott Returns! Ruler Work New and Review

Let's Use that Westalee Sampler Set! asds@adelescott.com
Instructor – Adele Scott
This is a “New or Review” class – you’ll work at your own level, using the versatile
Westalee Sampler Set [or other rulers discussed with Adele] – learn the basics or
sharpen your skills to plan and create and stitch a beautiful topper, combining rulers from
the Sampler Set, try the SashLee straight ruler plus the new Bloom template. You'll learn
about creating combined designs, how to audition and decide placement, and joining
quilted sections with the easy and useful SashLee method. Note: Less experienced
quilters might want to work on sample “sandwiches” first, more experienced quilters can
work on their own project after discussing it with Adele.
Each block option teaches a lesson – Using your ruler foot to “push” your ruler to its next
position, outlining a shape with the 12” arc or Sashlee ruler, enlarging a design by rotating
template to extend corners, using the spacing gauge for exact positioning and filling
corners with complimentary designs.
You will need to know how to set up for ruler-work, [taking my Sampler Set – New or
Review Class is very helpful or using the machine set-up checklist ahead of class will
help] but this class is good for all levels. More advanced students can create more
complicated blocks with background fill or work on their own smaller or in sections
project.
NOTE: Supplies are the same as the “Westalee Sampler Set Workshop” plus the new
Bloom template for those with older sets, the optional SashLee long template and I
recommend the 12.5” 8pt Cross Hair but the smaller version can also work except for
marking the outside parameter.
