Spring Placemats 

This class is suitable for all levels of sewists who are comfortable using their own sewing machine.

Welcome in the new season with some new placemats. We will be making placemats using various width strips, using the Quilt As You Go technique and adding a backing and binding to the placemat. 

 Quilt As You Go is a form of quilting, where you are stitching two or three layers of your quilt sandwich together at one time.

You will bring your own fabric to class and we will be cutting the strips for the placemats and binding in class, using the AccuQuilt GO! Cutter. You will cut enough strips to make a set of 4 placemats. You should be able to complete 2 of the placemats in class.

Note: You will receive a 10% student discount for any purchases made in the store on the day of the class. You can call Nashua Sew and Vac ahead of the class day and ask them to hold aside any supplies that you need from the list and pay for them on class day.

Feel free to bring your lunch or a snack to class.

Supplies:

-        Your own sewing machine in good working order

-        ¼” quilting/piecing foot

-        Open toe foot for optional decorative stitching

-        Cotton Thread – Aurifil Thread recommended – available at Nashua Sew and Vac

-        Cotton Fabric - The fabric requirements are for (4) placemats

-        1/2 yard each of four - five coordinating fabrics which will be used for the strips.

-        Binding Fabric: ¾ Yard

-        Backing Fabric: 1 ½ yards. Precut at home to (4) 20” x 16” pieces

-        NON-FUSUBLE Quilt Batting:  precut to (4) 18”x14”pieces

-        General Sewing Notions

-        Heat Erasable Dark Ink Marking Pen

-        Curved basting Safety Pins

-        Wonder Clips

-        Ruler

-        Good large fabric cutting scissors

-        Quilter’s Seam Roller – optional, but, very helpful. – available at Nashua Sew and Vac

-        Rotary Cutter
