Skill Level

This class is perfect for beginners (you know how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and can sew a mostly straight line at ¼ of an inch, you're golden).

Supplies to Bring

Fabric

12 coordinating fat quarters*

½ yard of fabric (this will be enough for the front and back of pillow)

14 oz of fiber fill or polyester filling

3 inch x 16 inch wool/felt for flower center or you can use a 3-in button.

A spool of thread to coordinate with your fabric

Tools

Sewing machine in good working order (seriously, test it before class). We are happy to help you

bring it into the class for you.

¼-inch patchwork foot* is handy to have (optional)

Rotary cutter* (with a new blade as we will be going through many layers at a time)

Scissors*

About the Instructor

Yanna Johansen is a sewist with a passion for turning fabric scraps into imperfect bespoke

masterpieces. After discovering jelly roll rug projects, pillows, and tote bags as an innovative

solution to the mountains of leftover fabric from teaching middle-school sewing classes, she’s

been hooked. Now, when she’s not teaching her students how not to sew their fingers together,

you’ll find her blissfully creating rugs, home décor, and cat nappers. Some might call it an

obsession, but Yanna likes to think of it as eco-friendly therapy with happy cats.
