Jelly Roll Rug Tree Skirt

Sew Your Own Jelly Roll Rug Christmas Tree Skirt!
Get into the holiday spirit and expand your sewing skills (nothing says "festive" like turning your dining room into a
fabric explosion just in time for holiday chaos!)
In this adult sewing class, you’ll learn how to create a beautiful, mini jelly roll rug Christmas tree skirt. This hands-
on class will teach you sewing techniques, such as straight stitching, using a walking foot, mastering the zigzag
stitch, and putting on a quilt binding. Why a mini-tree skirt? The first project is always a protype/practice and we
want to make sure we get through all the steps. Using the techniques learned, you’ll be able to make a full-sized
skirt, or a jelly roll rug!
A sewing machine in good working condition is required for the class, and you should be at least an adventurous
beginner. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you through any thread jams and sewing machine mishaps. By the end of the
class, you’ll have a perfectly imperfect, one-of-a-kind tree skirt that could easily become the star of your holiday
décor (but no pressure, of course).

Instructor Bio: | Yanna Johansen is a sewist with a passion for turning fabric scraps into imperfect bespoke masterpieces. After discovering jelly roll rug projects as an innovative solution to the mountains of leftover fabric from teaching middle - school sewing classes, she’s been hooked. Now, when she’s not teaching her students how not to sew their fingers together, you’ll find her blissfully creating rugs and cat nappers. Some might call it an obsession, but Yanna likes to think of it as eco-friendly therapy with a side of soft floors and happy cats.  |
