Rope Bowl With Scalloped Edges and Cork Insert
In this class, we will be making a large bowl on your domestic sewing machine and adding a finish of scalloped edges around the top of the bowl and ending with a tassel and wooden bead.
You will add fabric wrapping strips to some of the rows and integrate a cork circle into the bottom of the bowl.
Approximate Finished Size: 10” wide and 4” tall.
On the day of the class, you will need to purchase a kit for this project for $45.00.
The kit will include:
- All fabric needed - precut cork circle for the bottom of the bowl, precut fabric strips for wrapping
- Aurifil 50 wt. cotton – large spool (1422 yards)– white or color of your choice
- Rope - 100’ of ¼” All Cotton Solid Braid
- Wooden Bead
- Class Kit
- Your own sewing machine with zig-zag capability in good working order

- Open toe foot
- 2 Bobbins
- Pkg of Denim/Jeans Needles 90/14 and Topstitch Needles 90/14
- Scissors to cut your rope
- Small embroidery scissors or snips
- Sewing Pins – Extra Fine, if you have them (Magic Pins are great)
- Mini Clips (also called Wonder Clips)
- Elmer’s School Glue Stick (disappearing purple)
- Tape Measure
