Santa's Workshop Rope Coasters and Storage Basket

Learn the basic techniques of rope sewing on your sewing machine!

In this class, we will rope sew coasters and a storage basket. 

You can choose the thread color that you would like to use as well as the finishing technique. 

The rope that we will be using has been especially chosen for its quality, durability, absorbency, and feel.  Each skein of rope will provide enough yardage for you to create a total of 8 coasters and 2 baskets.  It will be available for purchase the day of the class – $15.00 for a 100’ skein.

At the end of the class, you will take home a completed set of coasters and a storage basket (maybe even 2 sets, if time allows!)

On the day of the class, you will need to purchase 100’ skein of rope chosen especially for this class for $15.00.

 Supplies:

-          Your own sewing machine with zig-zag capability in good working order

(we can help you carry it in and out)

-          Open toe foot or zig-zag foot

-          Cotton Rope (purchase at class)

-          100% Cotton thread – 50 wt. – Solid color(s) or variegated

Note: Aurifil cotton thread is recommended for its strength and feel – available at Nashua Sew and Vac

-          Bobbins

-          Denim/Jeans Needles 90/14 and Topstitch Needles 90/14

-          Small embroidery scissors or snips

-          Scissors to cut rope

-          Sewing Pins – Extra Fine, if you have them (Magic Pins are great)

-          Tape Measure
