Embroidered Rope Basket

Come have fun and learn the basic techniques of making a rope basket on your sewing machine and how to personalize it with a machine embroidered design.

 For this class, a light stitch density design has been chosen, enabling you to take home a completed embroidery decorated basket at the end of the class.

Important Note: Ahead of class, you will need to purchase, and download to your machine, the embroidery design that has been specifically chosen for this class from Embroidery Library. Supplies:

-          Sewing machine with zig-zag capability with embroidery arm – both in good working order

-          Open toe foot

-          Zig-Zag Plate

-          Straight Stitch Plate (if you have it)

-          Machine embroidery hoop – no smaller that 120mm x 120mm

-          Cotton Rope

o   100% cotton – solid braid or diamond braid

o   1/4 “(6mm), at least 80’ long. (100’ hanks available for purchase at the class for $15.00)

-          Good Quality embroidery thread you will only need 3 colors of your choice)

-          White/Cream Cotton thread (I recommend Aurifil – 50 wt.)

-          2 Bobbins of Cotton Thread

-          Denim/Jeans Needle 90/14

-          Tear Away Stabilizer (OESD Ultra Clean & Tear Away Stabilizer, if possible)  NOTE: DO NOT USE STICKY BACK STABILIZER

-          Double sided tape

-          Cellophane/scotch tape

-          Small embroidery scissors or snips

-          Sewing Pins

-          Scissors for embroidery and trimming rope

-          Quilting Gloves – Optional/Nice to Have
